Epiphyllum Fishbone – Zigzag Cactus in a 6 cm Pot

With its green stems and wavy edges resembling fish bones, the Epiphyllum Fishbone adds a graphic and original touch to your collection of houseplants. This young tropical epiphytic cactus is unlike desert cacti: in nature, it grows in wetter, more airy environments.

Size received: a young live plant in a Ø6 cm nursery pot, with an approximate height of around 11 cm. Its size, the number of stems, and their arrangement may vary slightly from one plant to another. The decorative pot and accessories shown in the lifestyle photos are not included.

Why choose this Fishbone cactus?

  • Sculptural foliage: flat, green, zigzag-cut stems.
  • Evolving habit: the stems can gradually lengthen and trail as the plant grows.
  • Small size: ideal for starting a collection or decorating a bright shelf.

Care tips for your Epiphyllum Fishbone

Light

Place it in bright, indirect light. Gentle morning sun may suit it, but protect it from intense direct sunlight, which can scorch its stems.

Watering

Water when the top few centimeters of the substrate have dried out, then allow any excess water to drain away. Avoid leaving the pot sitting in a saucer full of water. Reduce watering in winter, depending on the temperature and light levels.

Substrate and repotting

Use a light, well-draining mix, such as indoor potting soil enriched with fine bark and perlite. Wait until the roots have well colonized the small pot before repotting into a slightly larger container.

Temperature and humidity

Prefer a temperate environment, ideally around 18 to 26°C, away from cold drafts and frost. Moderate ambient humidity suits it; good air circulation remains important.

Growth and flowering

Growth depends on the season and growing conditions. Flowering may occur on mature plants under good conditions, but it is not guaranteed, especially with this young plant.
